FREEPORT, Grand Bahama — Hope and gratitude continue to rise in the hearts of many residents of East Grand Bahama, as the Ministry for Grand Bahama has begun providing much needed small home repair relief to special needs individuals.
A post on Facebook on Friday, January 6, noted that in early December 2022, the Ministry for Grand Bahama, in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance, launched “a minor small home repair program to provide special assistance for getting the most vulnerable and elderly citizens in East Grand back into their homes.”
“Phase I of the program has brought focused attention to minor renovation efforts for the elderly, disabled, indigent, and special needs cases,” the release noted.
During a visit to the various repair projects today, Minister for Grand Bahama Ginger Moxey stated: “While the government through the Disaster Reconstruction Authority (DRA) is implementing a comprehensive scheme for rebuilding assistance efforts island-wide, the Ministry for Grand Bahama was tasked with focusing on those small projects which can have massive impact for the most vulnerable and elderly.”
In the coming days, it is expected that all 13 projects will be completed and those impacted will be able to return to their newly renovated homes. The excitement continues to build for the residents of East Grand Bahama as they are beginning to experience a sense of normalcy in their lives post Dorian.
