FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – Emphasizing that rebuilding and restoring Grand Bahama is a central commitment made by the Davis administration, Minister of State for the Public Service Pia T. Glover-Rolle assured
“civil servants based in Grand Bahama, as well as the general public, that positive changes are on the way to create a more efficient, more productive public service.”
In a statement that accompanied a collage of photos she posted on her Facebook page on Saturday, November 13, on her visit to Grand Bahama, Mrs. Glover-Rolle said: “As the second largest economy within our nation, Grand Bahama has a pivotal role to play in our national development. Yesterday, my team and I visited with several key agencies to discuss matters of critical importance to the Grand Bahamian people, especially as it relates to the public service.”
Mrs. Glover-Rolle added, “Our first meeting was with the staff of the Grand Bahama Ministry of Public Service, where we explored plans to transform the public service. Next, we had a virtual meeting with Latoya Cartwright, AVP of the Bahamas Public Service Union, Northern Region, to talk about pressing labour matters.
“Next, I accompanied my colleagues to the opening & ribbon cutting of the Grand Bahama Producer/Supplier Cooperative Societies Office.
“In the afternoon, we attended a meeting with the Grand Bahama-based heads of government ministries, departments, and agencies, before meeting with more labour representatives from the Bahamas Customs and Allied Workers Unions. We rounded out the day with a series of meetings with executives at the Office of the Prime Minister, Grand Bahama.”
She then declared: “Rebuilding and restoring Grand Bahama is a central commitment made by the Davis administration.
