(EDITOR’S NOTE: I initially published this brief article one year ago, on June 2, 2019, and Facebook republished it today as my Facebook Memories photo. I have known Rodney Moncur from he was one of the foremost fighters against injustice in The Bahamas during his “revolutionary” years. As the headline suggests, and this brief story confirms, he has certainly been “successful in reinventing himself” – a fact that is currently even more evident, considering that he is now one of The Bahamas’ most noted broadcasters.”
NASSAU, Bahamas — I have a confession to make — not the kind that I would make as a devout Roman Catholic to my priest, but a confession nonetheless. There was a time when I considered the “Woman Dem” leader Rodney Moncur to be an incorrigible buffoon and a political clown, but even though it is still hard for me to seriously accept his reference to himself as the “Woman Dem Leader,” Mr. Moncur has gradually abandoned some of the antics that influenced by conclusion that he was a “buffoon and political clown.”
No matter what you may personally think about the “Woman Dem Leader,” he has shrewdly used his self-promoting public relations skills to shroud himself in an aura of respectability that makes it impossible to not accept what he says and does these days seriously.
This photo that he posted on his Facebook page represents a good example of how successful the “Woman Dem Leader” has been in his unrelenting efforts to reinvent himself. The photo was taken at the 39th Royal Bahamas Defense Force (RBDF) Military Ball, June 1, 2019 at Atlantis Paradise Island Resort. Mr. Moncur posted it with the following caption:
“Leader Of The Woman Dem Rodney Moncur along with from right Denmaro Duncombe, Attorney Wayne Munroe, Deputy Leader Of The Opposition I Chester Cooper and Basil Longley and their wives together at the Defense Force Ball on Saturday 1 June 2019.”
