WASHINGTON, D.C., June 27, 2021 –I have just finished watching the Scripps National Spelling Bee Semi-Finals virtually on ESPN2 and Bahamas National Spelling Bee Champion Roy Seligman is among the remaining 11 spellers who have advanced to the finals, which will be aired live on ESPN2 from Orlando, Florida, on July 8.

I shall post a more detailed story later. As I have noted on more than one occasion, introducing the Scripps National Spelling Bee to The Bahamas in 1998 when I was editor of The Nassau Guardian is one of the accomplishments in my career as a journalist that I am extremely proud of.

I am absolutely certain that the entire Bahamas would want to see Roy Seligman’s performance in the finals, and if the Broadcasting of The Bahamas does not make some sort of arrangement with ESPN2 for broadcast rights, I would be extremely surprised. If they don’t, then Clint Watson at EYEWITNSS NEWS should encourage his boss, Sebas Bastian, to secure the broadcast rights for The Bahamas.

As I mentioned, I’ll  have  a more detailed story tomorrow.
