SAINT BENEDICT AND SAINT JOHN’S UNIVERSITY DELEGATION PAYS COURTESY CALL ON MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING

NASSAU, Bahamas, March 17, 2024 – Dr. Brian J. Bruess, Ph.D., President of The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University (SBSJ), along with a delegation from the university and members of the local alumni association, recently paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Education & Technical & Vocational Training. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the agreement between The Bahamas Government and the University to provide scholarship opportunities for outstanding Bahamian students.

Dr. Bruess mentioned the outstanding accomplishments of many of the current Bahamian students who are making a contribution to the development of the university through their leadership on the Student Senate and various clubs on campus and highlighted many graduates of the university who are making a significant contribution to the development of The Bahamas.

He also noted that Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis was awarded two Honourary Doctorate Degrees from The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.

The President also mentioned  that Bahamian St. John’s University Graduate Jervon Sands is only the fourth Johnnie in the school’s history and the first in more than 50 years to be named a Rhodes Scholar and offered a chance to study at the University of Oxford. The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University looks forward to continuing this partnership.
