WASHINGTON, D.C, June 15, 2024 – On behalf of the United States of America, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken today extended his “heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty King Charles III, Her Majesty Queen Camilla, and to the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the occasion of His Majesty’s official birthday.”

In a statement released by the State Department, Secretary of State Blinken said of the United States relationship with Great Britain, “The enduring bond between our nations is rooted in our shared history, common values, and unwavering commitment to democracy and human rights. Together we continue to collaborate closely as Allies on addressing global challenges, from combating climate change to fostering inclusive economic growth.”

He added, “In these times of both opportunity and adversity, the partnership between the United States and the United Kingdom remains more crucial than ever. We are united in our steadfast support for Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity against Kremlin aggression. Furthermore, our governments are working hand in hand to find a solution to the crisis in the Middle East that provides peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians.

“As we celebrate this special occasion, I wish His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen, and the people of the United Kingdom peace, prosperity, and good health in the year ahead. May our enduring friendship and cooperation continue to thrive, benefiting our peoples and the world.”

Trooping the Colour 2024 marked the official birthday celebration of King Charles III, which was attended by Catherine, Princess of Wales, despite being in the midst of her cancer treatment.

The annual event featured a grand military parade showcasing regiments of the British Army’s Household Division at a Horse Guards Parade, near Buckingham Palace in London.

After the ceremony the Royal Family returned to Buckingham Palace and appeared  on the balcony to view an aerial display by the Royal Air Force.

Her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are also expected to be in attendance.

Trooping the Colour marked King Charles III’s official birthday parade – his second since taking to the throne.

King Charles III’s actual birthday is November 14, but monarchs usually have a second ‘birthday’ in the summer months, marked by the occasion.
