SENIOR CITIZENS PARTICIPATE IN SPELLING BEE

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama — Senior citizens from throughout Grand Bahama participated in the Annual Cat Island Development Association Spelling Bee held  on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at The Freeport Bible Church.

Following 20 rounds of competition, Mary Grey was declared the winner after  correctly spelling the word ‘loquacious’.  Shirley Carey finished second and Carol Benet placed third. Mrs. Harding also received a prize for placing fourth.

With all female spellers participating in the event, Rudy Stubbs, Cat Island Development Association president, described it as a “tremendous success.” Chairperson for the event was Vernell Thurston.

Linda Russell, the 2018 Cat Island Development Association Spelling Bee champion, assisted in the presentation of prizes.
