NASSAU, Bahamas, April 21, 2019 — Sir Franklyn Wilson, Chairman of Sunshine Holdings Limited (SHL), and Sharon Lady Wilson hosted several guests at a dinner celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Lyford Cay Club on Saturday night, April 20, 2019.

As one of the largest conglomerates in The Bahamas, Sunshine Holdings is the parent company of a number of successful business enterprises, and guests of the Wilsons included persons involved in the operations of those companies and their spouses.

Joining the Wilsons for dinner at the Lyford Cay Club were: Anton Saunders, CEO of Royal Star Assurance Ltd., and  Sherrece Saunders; Rosel Moxey, President of Sunshine Finance, and Dr Beverton Moxey; Anthony Robinson, CEO of Focol Holdings Ltd., and Christine Robinson; Sharlyn Smith,  a partner of Sharon Wilson & Co., legal advisers to Sunshine Holdings, and Frank Smith; Paul McWeeney, CEO of Sunshine Insurance, and Meeka McWeeney; Franon Wilson, President of Arawak Homes, and Shelly Wilson; O.A.T “Tommy” Turnquest, a Director of Sunshine Holdings and policy adviser to the Chairman, and Shawn Turnquest.

Sunshine Holdings is the legacy company to The Sunshine Boys, a group of young men who in pre-independence Bahamas in the late 1960s had the visionary foresight to embrace the business opportunities that opened up to young black Bahamians after the Progressive Liberal Party’s historic election victory on January 10, 1967, ushering in The Bahamas’ first majority rule government.

Starting with their initial business venture, Sunshine Theatre Limited, which operated a movie theatre on Baillou Hill  Road, investors in the company committed themselves to reinvesting whatever profits they realized and today Sunshine Holdings is one the leading diversified privately-owned companies in The Bahamas.

Meanwhile, in addition to being chairman of Sunshine Holdings, Sir Franklyn also sits as chairman for the following companies:

Focol Holdings Ltd., a company listed on the Bahamas International Stock Exchange (BISX). It is also the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos distributor of Shell;

Arawak Homes Ltd., a real estate development company that has developed more “affordable houses” than any other company in the history of The Bahamas;

Sunshine Insurance (Agents & Brokers), The Bahamas correspondent of Marsh, the world’s largest insurance brokerage;

Royal Star Assurance Ltd., one of the largest general insurers in The Bahamas and The Cayman Islands and with the highest AM Best rating of any general insurer in The Bahamas;

Jack’s Bay Developers Ltd., a substantial land developer at Eleuthera, Bahamas.

Located in the exclusive gated community of Lyford Cay, which was established at the western end of New Providence by Canadian multi-millionaire E.P. Taylor in 1959, the Lyford Cay Club was founded in 1966 and is home to some of the world’s wealthiest people.
