SOUTH KOREA AMBASSADOR TO THE UNITED STATES PAYS COURTESY CALL ON AMBASSADOR JONES

WASHINGTON, D.C., His Excellency Cho Hyun-dong, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) to the United States, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Wendall Jones, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States, on Thursday, October 20, 2023, at the Bahamas Embassy, 600 New Hampshire Avenue, N.W.

The two ambassadors discussed matters of mutual interest to their countries, including renewable energy, tourism, climate change, the World Expo 2030, the Korean and Bahamian communities in the United States and interest in future technical collaboration.

Ambassador Cho, who presented his credentials to U.S. President Joseph Biden on April 19, 2023, was South Korea’s first Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs when he was nominated as the new South Korean ambassador to the United States, according to The Korea Times.

Cho is known for his expertise in Seoul-Washington relations and North Korean nuclear issues. He spent most of his career at the foreign ministry, serving as the deputy minister for planning and coordination, deputy chief of mission of the South Korean embassy in the U.S. and minister-counselor at the South Korean embassy in India.
