FRANON WILSON
NASSAU, Bahamas — Arawak Homes President Franon Wilson said yesterday that the government needs to go back to the drawing board on its affordable homes program, particularly since the vast majority of those who recently applied to purchase lots from the government at significantly reduced prices failed to qualify.
“They have to restructure it,” Wilson said when contacted by Guardian Business. “At the end of the day I think their hearts are in the right place, however the reality is what they are trying to do and their way to go about it is wrong.”
Earlier this week Minister of Housing Romauld Ferreira revealed that while dozens of people have applied for the service-ready lots that government has allocated for the program – for as little as $15,000 in some instances – only nine people have so far qualified. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/08/30/start-over-on-affordable-homes-program-wilson-says/
