NASSAU, Bahamas, May 21, 2021 — It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing on Friday evening of Bishop Wenith Davis, Senior Pastor of Zion Baptist Church, South Beach.
An educator by training, Bishop Davis made his mark in the Ministry of Education in his formative professional years before entering the church ministry as a pastor and religious leader.
He is renown for his eloquence and biblical scholarship and has impacted the lives of many through his extensive work in secular education, religious education and counseling.
The church community has lost a great biblical scholar and leader; the education community has lost a visionary, a teacher and a strong advocate for education; and The Bahamas has lost a native son.
The Bahamas is however a better place because of the work, counsel and legacy of Bishop Wenith Davis. He was a good and faithful servant who ran the good race and never fainted nor did he shy away from addressing issues of national import.
He loved The Bahamas and served this country well.
We thank him for his service and impact on multiple spheres of our national life.
He will be greatly missed.
On behalf of my dear wife, Ann-Marie, PLP Deputy Leader I. Chester Cooper, my Parliamentary Caucus, the Office of the Leader of the Opposition, party Chairman Senator Fred Mitchell, officers and members of the Progressive Liberal Party, I express heartfelt condolences to his wife Ismae and their children. Additionally, I make mention of his siblings, including Bishop Dr. Roston Davis and Apostle Lee Watson and the wider Baptist Society and Church community.
May he rest in peace.
