JUST AN OBSERVATION: Bahamas Information Services (BIS), the Government’s NEWS AGENCY, just posted this photo on Facebook under the heading, “Toastmasters Club Celebrates 50th Year with Installation at Government House,” and the following caption:
NASSAU, The Bahamas — Governor General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Cornelius A. Smith (standing, centre) hosted the installation ceremony of executive officers of the First Bahamas Branch of Toastmasters Club 1600 in celebration of its 50th Year Anniversary, at Government House, August 1, 2019. Will someone, anyone, please let me know why the principal news agency of The Bahamas Government could not identify the eight other persons in this photo with the Governor General. It is about high time that the Government realizes that the proper dissemination of news is vitally important. I submitted a proposal to the Government more than a year ago to assist in editing copy for BIS, and given the advancements that have been made in Internet technology, I can easily render this service from the District of Columbia, where I live, as easily and as efficiently as if I were in Nassau.
Clearly, the Government cannot continue to allow this unprofessional “journalistic” practice that seems to be quite acceptable to the powers that be to continue to undermine the Government’s efforts to provide the country with good governance. How difficult would it have been for someone to get the names of the persons in the photo, from left to right? Of course, the fact that the photo was taken on August 1 and is being posted five days later is not surprising, given that fact publishing photographs late is a standard practice of BIS.
