U.S. EMBASSY IN NASSAU DONATES SUPPLIES TO GRAND BAHAMA SCHOOLS

NAASSAU, Bahamas — On Wednesday, February 12, 2020, sailors from the USS Bainbridge interacted with children from four schools on Grand Bahama with supplies donated by the United States Embassy in Nassau during a port visit. Funded by the U.S. Northern Command Foreign Humanitarian Assistance program, the donation included a wide-range of educational materials for students to use for the rest of the school year. The items — including books, flashcards, and science activities — were given to students at Hugh Campbell, Maurice Moore, Walter Parker, and Freeport primary schools. Paint Fair on Grand Bahama kindly donated the paint to renovate three classrooms impacted by Hurricane Dorian. U.S. sailors painted classrooms at Holmes Rock, Martin Town and Bartlett Hill primary schools. With the donation of educational materials, the U.S. Embassy continues its partnership with the Ministry of Education to empower its elementary students.
