WASHINGTON, D.C., November 17, 2022 — Five members of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Bahamas Ministry of Finance paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Wendall K. Jones, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States, at the Embassy, 600 New Hampshire Avenue, N.W., on Thursday, November 17.

FIU Deputy Director Basil Collie, Miss Dawnique Maycock, Mr. Lamar Delaney, Miss Lynell Thurston, and Mr. Ishan Rolle were in Arlington, Virginia, to attend the ISS World North America Conference at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington from November 15 to 17. The group of analysts and IT specialists attended the Intelligence Support Systems Conference for training on Electronic Surveillance, Social Media/Darknet Monitoring and Cyber Threat Detection.

The agenda included: Online social media and internet investigations, understanding network technology and lawful interception, practitioner’s guide to internet investigation, a real-world look at investigations in the Dark Web, defense and intelligence gathering product training, cryptocurrency and its use in the Dark Web, and disrupting transnational organized crime: investigating cross-border cartel operations and more.
