VISITING GHANA MP PAYS COURTESY CALL ON AMBASSADOR COLLIE

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 25, 2021 –The Hon. Sylvester Tetteh, Member of Parliament and Junior Minister for Youth and Sports of the Republic of Ghana, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Sidney Collie, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), at the Embassy of The Bahamas, 2220 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., on Tuesday, August 24.

Minister Tetteh, who is a special advisor to Ghana’s President Nana Akofo Ado, was visiting Washington, D.C., on official government business, Ambassador Collie noted in a post on his Facebook page.

Ambassador Collie said that among the topics they  discussed was the desire of the government of President Nana Akofo Ado to develop official diplomatic relations with The Bahamas. The possible  exchange of non-residential ambassadors to both countries was also discussed.

Ambassador Collie visited Ghana in November of 2020 to participate in the November 25 ground-breaking ceremony for the Obokese University of Excellence . He was invited to speak at the ground-breaking by Nana Obekese Ampah I, founder of the university, during a visit to Washington, D.C. on October 7, 2020.

During his visit, Ambassador Collie was installed as development chief of the 26 regions of the Asebu Kingdom, which he described in an article published in BAHAMAS CHRONICLE on November 28, 2020, as “an awesome responsibility and the first such honor being awarded to a member of the African Diaspora,” adding: “My new title is NANA KWASI OBOTAN I (A solid rock).”
