AMBASSADOR COLLIE MEETS WITH EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CCAA

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Sally Yearwood,  Executive Director of the Caribbean Central American Action (CCAA), paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Sidney Collie, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), on Monday, September 17, 2018,  at the Embassy of The Bahamas, 2220 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W.

Based in Washington, D.C., the CCAA is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on “promoting world class economic development, resilience, and prosperity in the Caribbean and Central America.”

Ambassador Collie and Executive Director Yearwood discussed the work of the CCAA and opportunities for the CCAA to support The Bahamas’ and the wider Caribbean’s policy goals.

Areas of focus of the CCAA discussed included: advocacy for solutions to the de-risking challenge affecting correspondent banking relations in the region; support for regional financial services  and financial technology innovation, and robust implementation of the US-Caribbean Strategic Engagement Act.

Ambassador Collie committed to working with the CCAA on the aforementioned priorities and recommended further collaboration could be envisioned on issues around access to finance.
