“ANDROS GIRL” AND WITH HIS EXCELLENCY

LONDON, England — I really, really like this photo for more reason than one. First and foremost, Nicole Holder is from Andros, the island of my birth, but equally as important for me is the fact that she is pictured with His Excellency Ellison Greenslade, Bahamas High Commissioner to London, a gentleman that I admire and respect tremendously.

I got to know High Commissioner Greenslade very well during the seven years (2000 – 2007) he was Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Northern Region – including Grand Bahama, Abaco and the Berry Islands – when I was Editor of the Freeport News. I wrote more than one editorial highlighting the excellent job he did during his tenure as the top law-enforcement official in Grand Bahama. He continued to demonstrate similar dedication, commitment and management style to law-enforcement as Commissioner of Police, prior to retiring from the Royal Bahamas Police Force to become High Commissioner in London in November of 2017. Therefore, it is not surprising to me that he is doing such an exemplary job as The Bahamas’ top diplomat at the Court of St. James.

This photo with Nicole Holder was taken in front of High Commission on Monday, June 18, during a courtesy call on  the High Commissioner  by a delegation from the Bahamas Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC), led by Executive Chairman Adrian Gibson, MP for Long Island. The WSC delegation is in Britain for several days of meetings across the UK dealing with best practices and building capacity at WSC.

Nicole operates a travel agency in London, Lady Guliver Travels, which apparently was responsible for assisting  with travel arrangements for the delegation. In commenting on the courtesy call, she posted this photo with the following caption: “Passionate, Deliberate & Determined! I was impressed and left optimistic about The Bahamas’ role in this region with our global relations but more importantly for the diaspora. Well done Sir!”
