ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO PROMOTE THE BROWN AGENCY AND BAHAMAS CHRONICLE

FLASHBACK: Dr. Erecia Hepburn (center), Assistant Professor at the School of Chemistry and Environmental Life Science of the College of the Bahamas, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Forrester J. TODAY’S FACEBOOK MEMORIES PHOTO: Today’s Facebook memories is this photo I posted four years ago on March 18, 2016, when I was Press, Cultural Affairs and Information Manger at the Embassy of The Bahamas in Washington, D.C. for four-plus years before the change of government in The Bahamas in May of 2017. Given my background and experience in journalism, one of my responsibilities as Press, Cultural Affairs and Information Manager at the Embassy in D.C. — which functioned under His Excellency Dr. Eugene Newry, the former Ambassador, as the supervisory diplomatic mission for all the Consulates and Honorary Consulates in the United States – was to report on events at the various Bahamian diplomatic missions.

Consequently, I worked very closely with Consul General to New York Forrester Carroll, Consul General to Atlanta Randy Rolle  and Consul General to Miami H. Ricardo Treco as well as Honorary Consul Cedric Scott in Los Angeles and Honorary Consul to Chicago Michael C. Fountain. Keeping Bahamians in the diaspora across the United States informed of not only Embassy events but also events generally “back home” in The Bahamas was a on of our top priorities at The Embassy in D.C.

When my diplomatic appointment was rescinded,  l decided to remain in D.C. and established THE BROWN AGEENCY LLC, which offers a variety of services including writing press releases and editing, among other public relations functions. I also publish the online publication BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which was established to keep Bahamians and nationals from other Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries in the diaspora up-to-date on selected news from their respective countries.

I have submitted a proposal to The Bahamas government for me to continue doing what I did at the Embassy on a contractual basis through THE BROWN AGENCY that was revised down to a very affordable rate, and  I was told more than a year ago by Ambassador Sidney Colliie that it had been approved and sent to the Attorney General’s Office for review.” For whatever reason, however, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet implement it. Given the fact that THE BROWN AGENCY LLC is having difficulties attracting clients, I certainly hope that Foreign Affairs Minister Darren Henfield uses his influence to remove the “red tape” that’s preventing his Ministry from responding positively to my proposal.

In the meantime, today’s Facebook Memories  provides me with another opportunity to promote THE BROWN AGENCY and BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which can be accessed at bahamaschronicle.com.
