WASHINGTON, D.C., March 1, 2024 — The Bahamas Embassy Consular Annex, located at 1200 17th Street, hosted its first Consular Corps Mixer at the Pillsbury Building on Friday, February 23, 2024.

The event was opened by Consul General Patrick Adderley, who brought remarks and reminded attendees that The Bahamas is still a premier destination for travel, despite the recent travel advisories, and thanked the Consular Corps for their support.

In attendance was the President, Mr. Michael Cerulus, Consul General at the Embassy of Belgium, and the Program Chair, Mrs. Katherin Moss, President of the Potomac Exchange LLC.  Attendees were able to indulge in a Bahamian experience, starting with a culinary tour of some of The Bahamas’  local cuisine, beginning with conchy conch fritters, cracked chicken and fries, steamed snapper with peans n’ rice, topped off with guava pudding.

A selection of Bahamian libations,  including sky juice, rum punch, coconut infused lemonade, goombay soda, and Kalik beer, were there to tantalize their taste buds. As the evening progressed, attendees were treated to the rhythmic sounds of Junkanoo, cowbells, and goat-skinned drums that filled the halls of the Pillsbury lobby as they danced and enjoyed the evening adorned in junkanoo headpieces.

The night ended on a high with attendees requesting information on the beautiful islands of the Bahamas to plan their next escape from the DMV.
