WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 29, 2023 – In commemoration of World Tourism Day, which is celebrated annually on September 27, Latia Duncombe, Director General of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, recently visited Aquinas College, a Roman Catholic High School that was established in 1957.

CatholicSchools Bahamas today posted a collection of photos on Facebook taken during Ms. Duncombe’s visit that I absolutely had to share with readers of my online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.

In the narrative that accompanied the photos on Facebook, CatholicSchools Bahamas posted the following FUN FACT:

“Aquinas College was the first private school in The Bahamas to implement a complete Vocational-Technical (VO-TECH) programme.  The school’s Tourism & Hospitality programme is a part of the Aquinas College VOTECH programme.  Students enrolled in this programme are given the opportunity to attain Bahamahost certifications.”

EDITOR’S NOTE: Aquinas College is a Roman Catholic School; therefore all of its teachings are in accordance with the spiritual and moral standards of the Roman Catholic Church. It is the philosophy of this school that all students should be concerned with their spiritual, mental, physical, social and educational growth. This is paramount so as to instill in our students Christian principles and values that will enable them to take their rightful places in the Bahamian society and the world at large.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Administration and staff of Aquinas College are concerned with the spiritual, mental, physical, social and educational growth and development of all of our students. This concern is of the greatest importance so as to instill good Christian principles and values, thus helping to assure and prepare them to take their places not only in our Bahamian society but the world at large.
