WASHINGTON, D.C. — Bahamians have been travelling to Europe on vacation in increasing numbers this past summer, as suggested by photographs posted on Facebook with the Eiffel Tower in Paris or some other historic landmark in another European city as the backdrop. However, the most popular destination appears to be London, where one of their favouite places to visit is The Bahamas High Commission at 10 Chesterfield St, Mayfair, London.

Invariably, they are always warmly welcomed during their courtesy calls by His Excellency Ellison Greenslade, Bahamas High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, and are photographed with him during their discussions.

Some Bahamians who use the services of Lady Guliver Travels to assist them with their travel arrangements also benefit from personal guided tours of selected sites in the London area, with Lady Guliver’s owner Nicole Evans-Holder as their “tour guide.”

As noted in a BAHAMAS CHRONICLE recent BAHAMIANS IN THE DIASPORA feature on Nicole, she is a proud native of Andros, with roots in Nicholl’s Town, a beach-side settlement at the northern tip of Andros, which she says is “a place etched in my heart forever.”

Speaking about Lady Guliver Travels in our BAHAMAS CHRONICLE FEATURE, Nicole says, “As travel consultants, we seek to understand our clients and their lifestyles, interests and budget before we make recommendations for their trip. We can book anything the client needs and/or desires inclusive of air, hotel/rental properties, car service, train, tours, cruises, museum passes, wine tours, dinner reservations, theater tickets, personalized/private tours — you name it.”

Currently, Bahamian visitors traveling through Europe with the help of Lady Guliver Travels include Kortney Cartwright and Hughniqua Rolle. They are pictured in the photo accompanying this article with Nicole and her husband and daughter enjoying the long Bank Holiday in London at The Rum Kitchen on Carnaby Street, a popular “hot spot” that is “a little slice of the Caribbean in Central London,” as Nicole describes it.
