CONSUL GENERAL MAJOR SIGNS BOOK OF CONDOLENCES FOR FORMER CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER BRIAN MULRONEY

Bahamas Consul General to New York Leroy F. Major signs the Book of Condolences for former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.

NEW YORK, N.Y., March 7, 2024 — The Hon. Leroy F. Major, Bahamas Consul General to New York, today signed the Book of Condolences at the Permanent Mission to the UN and Consulate of Canada in New York for former Canadian Prime Minister the Right Hon.  Brian Mulroney, who passed away on Thursday, February 29. He was 83 years old.

Mr. Mulroney was Canada’s 18th Prime Minister from 1984-1993 and is noted for leading his country into the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with the United States and Mexico and introducing economic and tax reforms such as the goods and services tax (GTS), created to replace the manufacturer’s sales tax and the Canada-United States Free Trade Agreement.

Mr. Mulroney is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mila Mulroney; their four children, Ben, Caroline, Mark, and Nicolas; and their extended family.
