NASSAU, Bahamas, November 23, 2019 — Since gaining world-wide fame with their “monster hit” “Who Let the Dogs Out?” Baha Men has not sparked as much excitement as they are doing with this release focusing attention on the devastation caused by category 5 Hurricane Dorian to Grand Bahama and Abaco, two northern Bahamian islands, the first week of September. Although it can be categorized in the promotional genre, Baha Men may very well have inadvertently launched another major hit.
Of course, it may not reach the musical celestial status achieved by “Who Let the Dogs Out?”, which “peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart, as well as topping the charts in Australia and New Zealand, and reached the Top 40 in the United States” and “was Britain’s fourth biggest-selling single of 2000,” according to Wikipedia. It went on to become “one of the highest-selling singles of the decade not to reach number one,” and won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording at the 2001 Grammy Awards.
This video of “Let’s Go Bahamas! Visit The Bahamas!” apparently was originally posted by Monte A. Pratt, but it was brought to my attention in an inbox from Pamela Burnside of Doongalik Studios and Creative Nassau, recommending that I share it with this proviso: “Each view will generate a donation to the Bahamas Red Cross to aid victims of Hurricane Dorian.” https://youtu.be/rlc_V9Zstn0
