GRAND BAHAMA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SCHEDULED TO RESUME INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS IN NOVEMBER

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – The Executive Team at the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) continues to provide regular “updates” on restoration efforts in Freeport  in the aftermath of the catastrophic damages caused in Grand Bahama and Abaco when category 5 hurricane Dorian slammed into these two northern Bahamian islands the first week of September.

The Grand Bahama International Airport is scheduled to resume international commercial flights on November 15, 2019, and the GBPA notes that these flights will provide a boost to help the economy rebound.

Meanwhile, according to this news report, international commercial flights will not be able to land in Grand Bahama for at least another month as the airport’s management team prepares a temporary facility “consisting of U.S. Department of Homeland Security PSA certified modular units.”

As noted in this report, the damage sustained by the airport during the hurricane “is in the millions.” https://youtu.be/WGHDtaZxMl4
