UNITED DMV BAHAMAS RELIEF EFFORT HURRICANE DORIAN DONATION DRIVE

Bahamas Ambassador Sidney Collie (right) and Mr. Theo Neilly, Bahamas Consul General to Washington, D.C., partnered with United DMV, a non-profit organization, and  a group o volunteers this past weekend at a warehouse in Chantilly, Virginia, to sort, package and label hurricane relief supplies to be shipped to The Bahamas.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — His Excellency Sidney Collie, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative  to the Organization of American States (OAS), and Mr. Theo Neilly, Bahamas Consul General to Washington, D.C., partnered with United DMV, a non-profit organization, on Saturday, October 19, 2019 for the “Pack-N-Load” Hurricane Dorian Donation Drive over the weekend in Chantilly, Virginia.

The United DMV Bahamas Relief Effort is organized by Rafael Babilonia Dudley and his wife Marta. Their team of volunteers have been gathering in the 10,000 square foot warehouse in Chantilly five days a week collecting, sorting, packaging and labeling items. Over the past five weeks, they have loaded 100,000 lbs of items in 18 wheeler trucks to be transported to The Bahamas on Carnival Cruise Ships.

This past Saturday, 20,000 lbs of supplies were shipped.

Ambassador Collie took the opportunity to thank everyone on behalf of a grateful nation, for the unselfish outpouring of love and compassion to the people of The Bahamas, especially those who were affected by Hurricane Dorian.
