LENTEN TEA AND FASHION SHOW HOSTED BY THE EMBASSY CONSULAR ANNEX

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 6, 2023– The Bahamas Embassy Consular Annex hosted a Lenten Tea and Fashion Show on Sunday, April 2, at the Ritz Carlton in Washington, D.C., during the recent visit by Mrs. Ann-Marie Davis, wife of Prime Minister Philip E. Davis, and a delegation from The Bahamas.

Included in the delegation were Senator the Hon. J. Lashell Adderley, President of The Bahamas Senate; the Hon. Lisa Rahming, Minister of Social Services and Urban Development; and Ms. Debbie Bartlett.

The delegation arrived in D.C. on Thursday, and Mrs. Davis was the special guest speaker at an event held by The Bahamas Embassy Consular Annex, 600 New Hampshire Avenue, N.W, on Friday. March 31, during which delivered a powerful address on the topic “Empowerment of Women and Girls: Achieving Equality in the Digital Age”.

Citing various statistics to back up her claim that there is a serious gender gap with regard to jobs in the technology sector in The Bahamas, Mrs. Davis advised more Bahamian women to become interested in this field.

In addition to the delegates from The Bahamas, the Lenten Tea and Fashion Show was attended by CARICOM Ambassadors, Alicia Gibson, Alexis Darville, and other distinguished guests.

Some attendees – including Mrs. Davis, Minister Rahming and Senate President Adderley — participated in the highly anticipated fashion show.

Models walked down the runway to Bahamian music played by DJ Mr. Yves Barrett. Flowers, and special gifts were presented by Consul General Patrick Adderley to members of the Bahamian delegation, CARICOM Ambassadors, and others.
