THIRD ANNUAL CARICOM-IICA CANADA POLICY FORUM WAS A “TREMENDOUS SUCCESS”

The Hon. Zulfikar Mustapha, Guyana’s Minister of Agriculture, was the third annual CARICOM-IICA Canada Policy Forum keynote speaker.

OTTAWA, Canada — The Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Canada, in partnership with the IICA Delegation in Canada, successfully hosted the CARICOM-IICA Canada Policy Forum on September 21, 2023 The event was themed “CARICOM: Food Security in a Climate-Challenged World.”

Keynote speaker Hon. Zulfikar Mustapha, Minister of Agriculture, Guyana, stressed that the “ability to ensure that every citizen in our region enjoys safe, nutritious, and affordable food, regardless of their socio-economic status, is paramount.”

“We cannot confront food security and nutritional security without simultaneously confronting climate change,” he said.

Additionally, forum participants were privileged to hear from Mr. Tom Rosser, Dr. Orville Grey, Mr. Glen Linder, and others. The event was moderated by the Ambassador of Haiti, Excellency Dr. Weibert Arthus, and Dr. Jean Charles La Vallee of IICA Canada.

“A huge thank you to all attendees, speakers, and organizers for making this event a tremendous success,” a release on the forum stated. “Together, we work towards a food-secure and climate-resilient CARICOM.”
