ABACONIANS URGED TO  SHARE NAMES OF PERSONS LOST DURING HURRICANE DORIAN

Amanda Diedrick is pictured presenting a copy of her book, “Those Who Stayed, ” to Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis in 2017. She currently has a blog, “Little House By The Ferry,” in which she recently published a montage of photos “created as a memorial to those lost or missing in Abaco” as a result of Hurricane Dorian.

ABACO, Bahamas – My Facebook fiend Amanda Diedrick — an Abaconian whom I met in Washington, D.C., in 2016 when her husband Tom Walters, at the time the Los Angeles Bureau Chief for Canada’s CTV Television Network, was in  Washington covering the 2016 presidential election — has a blog  entitled LITTLE HOUSE BY THE FERRY, in which she recently published a montage of photos “created as a memorial to those lost or missing in Abaco, Bahamas as a result of Hurricane Dorian.”

Amanda, who is an excellent writer and has authored several books, provides this bit of information on herself in her blog: “Little House By The Ferry represents the convergence of some of my favourite things – writing, Bahamian history, Green Turtle Cay, and Fish Hooks, my ancestral home. Through this blog, I look forward to sharing our Green Turtle Cay adventures and documenting the restoration of our little house by the ferry. Please note that I do not receive any form of compensation from the individuals or organizations I write about. Unless otherwise noted, I own the rights to all text and images posted on this blog.”

I hope she does not mind me sharing this in BAHAMAS CHRONICLE along with this poignant, powerful message she scripted as an introduction to the photos of those missing in Abaco:

“We may never know for certain how many souls left us on September 1, 2019. What we do know is that each was a person who lived, loved and was loved in return. They were parents, siblings, children, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and coworkers. Here, we will celebrate their lives, honour their memories and share their stories. This page is for the entire Abaco community. You’re encouraged to share names, photographs and memories of anyone lost during Hurricane Dorian by sending me an email or leaving a note in the comments section below. May their souls rest in eternal peace and may their families and friends find solace and healing.” https://littlehousebytheferry.com/2020/05/25/remembering-the-lost-abaco-bahamas-dorian/?fbclid=IwAR2KyoMjBiKdoVAakjk5ZJm9WnHX5Cw0hz20xbuWGhlWOPJfbOkn7zAkxgc
