AMBASSADOR COLLIE JOINS CONGRESSWOMAN FREDERICA WILSON IN MIAMI FOR CEREMONIES INVOLVING THE BAHAMAS

MIAMI, Florida – His Excellency Sidney Collie, Bahamas Ambassador of the United States and Permanent Representative to Organiztion of American States (OAS), accompanied by his wife Mrs. Mavis Collie, traveled to Miami this past weekend to participate in ceremonies involving The Bahamas.

In a post on his Facebook page that accompanied a collage of photos, Ambassador Collie stated: “One of the ceremonies commemorated the efforts of Congresswoman Frederica  Wilson @repwilson, who requested and received approval for the sum of $2.5 million to establish a Bahamian History and Cultural Center in the Coconut Grove Community in Miami. As a member of the United States Congress, Congresswoman Wilson was able to apply for funds to assist with funding community projects in her districts.”

Ambassador Collie added that Bahamas Consul General in Miami Linda Mackey, “the Mayor of the City of Miami and other local dignitaries participated in the ceremonies over the weekend to make the announcement in recognition of Bahamian participation in chartering the city of Miami 125 years ago.”

Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson  represents Florida’s 24th Congressional District, one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse districts in the nation that includes parts of northwest Miami-Dade and southern Broward counties, according to her biography on her website.
