AMERICAN AIRLINES RETURNS TO GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama, February 13, 2020 – The Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board (GBITB) is pleased and excited to announce that American Airlines has resumed its daily service from Miami to Freeport with the arrival of a scheduled flight to Freeport International Airport on Thursday, February 13, 2020

A festive Junkanoo welcome greeted passengers at the airport terminal.

“This much needed service will go a long way towards facilitating the recovery of our destination and the return of visitors to Grand Bahama Island,” said Acting GBITB Chairman Ian Rolle. “This represents a major milestone in our recovery efforts, and augurs well for the future of our industry.”

“American has proudly served the Bahamas for more than 30 years and we are thrilled to be able to once again connect Freeport and Marsh Harbour to the world,” said Richard Elieson, American’s Vice President of International Operations and President of Cargo. “Air connectivity is critical to ongoing recovery efforts.”

Caroline Hollingsworth, American Airlines’ Country Manager for The Bahamas, along with senior representatives from the GBITB were at the airport to meet the inaugural flight, and the moment was captured in a photo of the Pilot and Crew with the aircraft on landing.
