NASSAU, Bahamas – The Botanical Gardens in New Providence was buzzing with excitement on Saturday, October 13, 2018 as diverse groups of nationals from various countries from around the world joined Bahamians for a fun-filled weekend of good food, cultural expressions and an array of other activities at the 23rd Annual International Cultural, Wine & Food Festival (ICWFF).

Addressing the crowd at the well-attended event during the official ceremonies, the Hon. Jeffrey Lloyd, Minister of Education, recognized persons who were instrumental in the festival’s launch 23 years ago and helped to make it the huge success it is today.

Among those receiving special recognition was the Hon. Janet Bostwick, a Bahamian political icon who was the first female Member of Parliament in The Bahamas, the first female Attorney General, and a former Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Also singled out for special mention was the late James Catalyn, who died this past August. The multi-talented cultural icon was a playwright and founder of James Catalyn & Friends, a leading Bahamian theatrical troupe. He was one of the driving forces behind the festival from its inception.
