PINDER SAYS CPSA TALKS MAKING HEADWAY

NASSAU, Bahamas — Director of Labour John Pinder said the Consultant Physicians Staff Association (CPSA) and the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA), along with the Department of Labour, have held two successful meetings after CPSA members overwhelmingly voted in support of a strike.

“I believe it is fair to say that the PHA has accepted some recommendations coming from the Labour Department and has now begun the process of fashioning a proposed industrial agreement to offer to the CPSA with a view of them coming together and having a discussion on it,” Pinder said. “That would lead to the commencement of negations for an industrial agreement.”

Asked about the strike vote, Pinder said, “Based on the poll results, they will be in a position to have that strike certificate. We are still in the process of ensuring that that happens. But we are hopeful that there is no need for them to have to bring any industrial action against the PHA, which will affect the health services in The Bahamas.” https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/10/13/pinder-cpsa-talks-making-headway/
