THE AGRI-BUSINESS EXPO IS BACK AT THE GLADSTONE AGRICULTURE

BAHAMAS CHRONICLE EDITOR’S NOTE: MP for Yamacraw Zane Lightbourne, Minister of State for the Environment, posted a collection of photos and I decided to share some of them with readers of my Washington, D.C. – based online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which hs a huge following among Bahamians in the diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean. The photos were posted with the following narrative:

NASSAU, Bahamas, April 13, 2024 — The Agri-Business Expo is back and is being held this weekend at Gladstone Agriculture Centre after a five-year hiatus. This event has been missed my myself and so many others who believe in growing food locally!

Under the theme, “Agriculture is Bahamian Culture” this year’s event is not just a showcase of the latest advancements in agriculture and fisheries, but also a platform for collaboration, innovation and growth in our agricultural and marine industries. The aim to connect farmers with markets, promote value added products, artisans, and foster agribusiness entrepreneurship in The Bahamas.

The expo will feature demonstrations on soil maintenance, backyard farming, ornamental plants, sustainable packaging solutions, handicrafts, local body care products, a culinary division with ‘fierce’ competition including a ‘battle of the island’ culinary competition and animal husbandry demonstrations.

Events will also be held for children, including a ‘kiddie’ corner featuring educational and fun workshops, pony rides, a petting zoo, bouncing castles, face painting and other activities.

See you there!
