U.S. COAST GUARD TURNS OVER 17 FOREIGN NATIONALS TO BAHAMIAN IMMIGRATION OFFICIALS

Foreign nationals being turned over to Bahamas Immigration officials by the United States Coast Guard on July 12

NASSAU, Bahamas — The United States Coast Guard (USCG) turned over a group of migrants to Bahamas Immigration officials at Prince George Wharf, New Providence, on Wednesday, June 12.  The group consisted of two Brazilian females, one Brazilian male, four Ecuadorean females, eight Ecuadorean males, one Jamaican male, and one Mexican male.

“All migrants were transported to the Carmichael Road Detention Center, where they await deportation to their homelands,” the Immigration Department noted in a statement. “The  Department is working with local agencies on the island to ensure health and safety protocols are followed.”

The statement added, “The public is reminded that the Department is committed to executing its mandate to ensure compliance with the Statue Laws of The Bahamas.”
