FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – The Ministry for Grand Bahama posted a collection of photos on Facebook on Monday, July 17, 2023, taken at the official ecumenical service held to commemorate The Bahamas’ 50 years as an independent nation. We decided to share some of them with readers of BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean. The photos were posted with the following narrative:

Yesterday was an extraordinary day for all Grand Bahamians as we gathered to commemorate 50 years of independence as a nation! Together, we joined hands and hearts with the Honorable Minister for Grand Bahama to celebrate this momentous occasion.

The Official Ecumenical Service at St. John’s Jubilee Cathedral in Grand Bahama was a heartfelt moment of gratitude and reflection, where we thanked God for the blessings bestowed upon our beautiful nation throughout these five decades of independence.

As we cherish the memories of the past and look forward to a bright future, let us embrace unity, resilience, and the spirit of togetherness that defines us as Bahamians.
