WASHINGTON D.C. — After seven weeks, three trailers and over 128,000 pounds of donations, the Bahamas Embassy Consular Annex in Washington, D.C. and United DMV, a Puerto Rican non-profit, closed the major Hurricane Dorian  relief effort with a final “Eat ‘N’ Greet, Pack ‘N’ Load” in Chantilly, Virginia, on Saturday, November 2, 2019.

“The Eat ‘N’ Greet, Pack ‘N’ Load” events have bought the Bahamian diaspora together with other volunteers, week after week, to help the people of The Bahamas in an environment that fostered friendship and goodwill,” The  Bahamas Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted on its Facebook page.

Mr. Theo Neilly, Bahamas Consul General to Washington, D.C., thanked Rafael Babylonia Dudley and his wife Marta and the United DMV for their invaluable support and commitment to helping The Bahamas. The organization mobilized less than 48 hours after Hurricane Dorian to spearhead an extensive and organized relief effort to get much-needed supplies to The Bahamas
