We decided to share this article with readers of BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean. The Bahamas Minister of Tourism Glenys Hanna-Martin shared this collection of photos with the accompanying narrative on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Last week, I had the distinct honour of leading The Bahamas delegation to Asunción, Paraguay, for my first official international tourism mission as Minister of Tourism.

During the visit, we participated in two significant United Nations Tourism engagements: a high-level forum on women’s leadership in tourism and the 71st Meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Americas.

These engagements provided an important opportunity to strengthen The Bahamas’ voice on the international stage, build strategic partnerships, and position our nation from a place of strength within the global tourism economy. As a tourism-centric nation, it is imperative that we remain actively engaged in conversations that shape the future of the industry that drives our economic success, creates opportunities for our people, and sustains communities throughout our archipelago.

The Bahamas remains committed to multilateral cooperation, innovation, and leadership as we continue advancing policies that support sustainable growth and ensure our tourism product remains competitive and resilient.

Small islands. Large responsibilities. Global impact.
